Nativity Grotto
Nativity Grotto
The Cave was an animal shelter, in a rough, rocky hillside at Bethlehem.
The replica of it on the Shrine grounds was built as shown in vision to Mary
Ann. It is open during the Christmas season Dec. 1 - Feb. 1.
Caroling is on Christmas Eve. At other times eleven hand-painted murals
are on display in the entrance, depicting the various Church Seasons.
An outdoor pageant enacted for the first time in 1971 is now
held on the first Saturday of December at 7:00p.m. It's portrayed by a
full cast in colorful costumes, live animals, the best of lighting, electronics
and music. A beautiful spiritual experience for young and old to always
remember. Admission is free. |
